THIS FILM IS ABOUT CHE GUEVARA’S LIFE, WHO WAS MEDICINE STUDENT. IN 1952 HE DECIDED TO TRAVEL AROUND SOUTH AMERICA WITH ANOTHER FRIEND (ALBERTO GRANADO). THIS TRIP WAS MADE ON AN OLD MOTORCYCLE, WHICH WAS BROKEN AFTER 8 MONTHS’ TRIP. AFTER THAT, THEY CONTINUED THE TRIP ON FOOT, BY BUS OR HITCH-HIKING.
THEY KNEW A LOT OF SMALL CITIES ON THEIR WAY, BUT WHEN THEY ARRIVED IN MACHU PICHU (PERU), THEY FOUND A LEPER COMMUNITY THERE AND BOTH STARTED TO THINK ABOUT HOW THE ECONOMIC PROCESS IN SOUTH AMERICA WORKED: IT TOOK CARE OF ONLY A SMALL PART OF THE POPULATION.
